each of these points taking the opportunity to knee many of his most despised objects bureaucrats functionaries contemporary philosophers historians pretensions to objectivity etc in the groin Reading over the other reviews of this book it is clear that each reader has his own Nietzsche I don t agree with many of his philosophical opinions and I abhor his cult of genius But then I am an early 21st century intellectual who has willingly nay gleefully saturated himself with history and foreign cultures and is disdainful of the antiuarian history into which he was born I am his Flachkopf made corporeal And yet I still am reading his texts because as I briefly indicated in another review Nietzsche went where no one else before him went and he never came back He went there with a megalomaniacal verve and an astounding prose style Some of the things he told s on the way are valuable th This short booklet basically a pamphlet was one of Nietzsche s early writings before he become mature because this would be a luxury which would deprive the labour market of a lot of power We blind some birds so that they sing beautifully I do not think that today s people sing changing light The young person is lashed through all the centuries Youngsters who nderstand nothing about a war a diplomatic action or a trade policy are found fit to be introduced to political history But then just as the young person races through history so we moderns race through the store rooms of art and listen to concerts We really feel that something sounds different from something else that something has a different effect than something else Constantly losing of this feeling of surprise and dislike becoming excessively astonished no longer or finally allowing oneself to enjoy everything people really call that historical sense historical education.
